Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about AgentLayer, our services, and working with us.

Working With AgentLayer
What size organizations do you work with?

We work with mid-market to enterprise organizations ($100M–$10B+ revenue) across financial services, healthcare, insurance, and professional services. Minimum engagement size is $15,000. We focus on organizations with complex operational requirements and governance needs where AI agents can create meaningful business impact.

Do you work with internal IT teams or replace them?

We work alongside your existing teams. AgentLayer provides architecture, governance frameworks, and strategic oversight. Your engineers and data scientists implement and operate the systems. We're the architects and guides. Your team owns the build and operations. This collaborative model ensures knowledge transfer and sustainable outcomes.

How long does a typical engagement take?

Diagnostic sprints run 2–4 weeks. Architecture & Build engagements run 8–16 weeks. Advisory retainers are ongoing (minimum 3 months). We scope every engagement clearly upfront with no scope creep. You'll know exactly what to expect and when.

Where are you located and do you work remotely?

Based in Dallas-Fort Worth. We work fully remotely with clients nationwide and engage on-site for workshops, executive presentations, and implementation milestones when needed. Most of our work is conducted via Zoom, Slack, and collaborative documents.

AI Agents & Technology
What AI platforms and frameworks do you work with?

We're platform-agnostic. We design architectures around your existing stack. Common platforms include OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure AI, AWS Bedrock, LangChain, and custom implementations. Our focus is on architecture, governance, and outcomes — not vendor lock-in.

We already have an AI team. How are you different?

Internal AI teams build. We architect. We provide the strategic framework, governance structure, and production blueprint your team executes against. Many clients hire us specifically because their internal teams are heads-down building and need someone thinking about the system as a whole — governance, risk, scalability, compliance.

What's the difference between an AI agent and regular AI/ML?

Traditional AI/ML produces outputs. AI agents take actions. They plan, use tools, make decisions, and execute multi-step workflows autonomously. The architecture, governance, and operational requirements are fundamentally different. Agents create new risk categories and require different thinking around reliability, audit trails, and human oversight.

How do you handle AI hallucinations and reliability?

Through architecture, not hope. We design validation layers, human checkpoints, confidence thresholds, and fallback flows into every system. Governance-first means reliability is built in. No agent takes action without multiple layers of verification appropriate to the risk level.

Governance & Compliance
How do you approach AI governance?

Governance is not a checkbox — it's an architecture decision. Every engagement includes audit trails, human-in-the-loop controls, role-based access, incident response protocols, and compliance mapping to relevant regulations. Ungoverned AI is a liability. We build controls from day one.

Can you help with EU AI Act and GDPR compliance?

Yes. We build compliance requirements directly into agent architecture — not as an afterthought. We map every agent's risk classification, required documentation, and human oversight requirements to EU AI Act and GDPR standards. This applies equally to organizations operating in or serving European markets.

What industries are you most experienced in?

Financial services, healthcare, insurance, and professional services — all highly regulated environments where governance and compliance are non-negotiable. Our experience in regulated industries means we understand risk frameworks, audit requirements, and stakeholder concerns that other consultants miss.

Investment & Results
What does it cost to work with AgentLayer?

Diagnostic sprints start at $15,000. Architecture & Build engagements start at $45,000. Advisory retainers start at $8,000/month. Every engagement is fixed-scope with clear deliverables. No surprises. Investment depends on scope, complexity, and engagement duration. We'll provide transparent pricing during scoping.

What ROI can we expect?

Outcomes vary by use case. Common results include 30–65% process efficiency gains, 60–90 day time-to-production timelines, and operational savings in the hundreds of thousands to millions annually. We identify specific ROI potential during the diagnostic. We're honest about what's achievable for your situation.

Do you guarantee results?

We guarantee delivery of our defined scope. We're honest about what AI agents can and can't do, and we scope engagements around achievable, measurable outcomes — not hype. Our reputation is built on under-promising and over-delivering, not on guaranteeing outcomes that depend on factors outside our control.
